The Art of the Gentle Reset
December has a way of getting loud. There are errands, plans, end-of-year deadlines, and a general feeling that everything needs to happen all at once. I used to try to match the pace. Now I try to interrupt it. Not with a full routine overhaul, but with small resets that help me feel like myself again.
A gentle reset is not glamorous. It is not curated. It is not twenty steps. It is about honest moments where you decide to support yourself instead of pushing yourself.
Here are a few resets that actually help me in real life. They don’t cost you hundreds of dollars…in fact these don’t cost you a penny, but the rewards have been priceless.
Drink a glass of water before your next coffee. Revolutionary, I know. But it wakes up my system in a way caffeine alone never does.
Eat dinner earlier when you can, trust me, my sleep, digestion, and mood all benefit from this one shift. It is not always possible, but when it is, I feel the difference.
Put on cozy socks. Seriously. Warm feet calm the nervous system faster than most wellness trends.
Pick one small surface to clean. A counter. A nightstand. The corner of a desk. Clearing one thing always feels better than staring at everything.
Towards the end of your work day dim a light. Lowering brightness is the quickest way to tell your body the day is slowing down.
Take three slower breaths. Not because it is poetic. Because it changes your chemistry in under a minute. What can I say, our bodies are pretty amazing.
None of these resets will fix a chaotic month. That is not their job. Their job is to help you find small moments of steadiness inside it. Clean Living is not about being perfect. It is about being aware. It is noticing what helps you feel better and giving yourself permission to do more of that. Little choices. Little shifts. Gentle resets that steady the ground beneath your feet. If today feels full, pick one reset. Just one. That is enough.
Wishing you a softer pace, even for a moment.

All of the above. Cozy socks, listening to soundbath meditations on the Calm app, lots oif water and hot tea, and spending time with low maintenance friends. Wishing you a cozy and restful holiday season.
Was literally texting a client about this earlier today. They were feeling overwhelmed. Told them to pick one thing today, no matter how small and subtract it from your ToDo list.
